Boniface Wins Rookie Player Of The Year Award In Germany

Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface has been named Rookie Player of The Year in Germany.

Boniface has enjoyed an incredible campaign with Bayer Leverkusen. The 23-year-old Nigeria has played an impressive role for Die Werkself this season, registering twenty goals and ten assists in 32 appearances.

The Nigerian International joined the German side last summer after a successful stint with the Belgian Jupiler League side Union St Gillaloise.

He has a season to remember with him in the team, Bayer Leverkusen has won their first-ever Bundesliga title, looks set to win the Europa League trophy, and are also favorites to win the finals of the German Cup, where they face Kaiserslautern.

Boniface won the Rookie of the Month for the first 4 months of the season before injury set in for him but he returned with a bang to help the club.

The lanky forward outwitted Xavi Simon and Two other players to emerge as the winner of the Rookie Player of the Year.

Boniface edged RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, who has registered seven goals and eleven assists in 31 games.

Also, he outwitted Ian Maatsen who plays for Borussia Dortmund on loan from Chelsea. And Maximilian Beier, who has 15 goals and two assists in 32 Bundesliga games.
